Night-time Events
Whilst we know a lot about night-time cities, the best way we can share that knowledge and learn more ourselves is by meeting people who are developing their own after dark plans and partnerships.
To do this we work with partners to create events around the night-time city. We’ve helped UK government departments such as DCMS, MHCLG and the Home Office, as well as the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish governments, curate their event programmes. We’ve assembled speakers and conference content for cities including Belfast, Dublin and Liverpool, as well as supporting smaller towns such as Ipswich, Gravesend and Morpeth bring together the right stakeholders to take their first steps towards a coherent night-time approach.
If you need help planning an event that people look back on as a critical moment in your place’s night-time evolution, we are happy to help. Below are some of our favourite night-time events.

The Government realised the High Street was changing. They asked MAKE to help design and deliver a national series of workshops on how the ENTE could help.
MAKE Night Markets: London's Original Night Market
We wondered why we only had identikit ‘continental’ Christmas markets in the UK, rather than the fantastic night markets of South East Asia. So, we decided to walk the talk and start something better.
North Lincolnshire Housing: Scunthorpe Town Centre Community Masterplanning
North Lincolnshire Homes is a major stakeholder in the steel town of Scunthorpe. It asked MAKE to create a community masterplanning process to redesign the town centre and a bold new vision for housing provision.
Northern Ireland Assembly: Night-Time Economy Conference
The Northern Ireland Assembly wanted to create a new movement to enliven and celebrate the country’s evening and night-time economy. It asked MAKE to help plan its first national ENTE conference.
Gravesham Borough Council: Evening and Night-Time Economy Workshops
The resting place of Pocahontas is not (yet) renowned for its diverse nightlife. Gravesham Council asked MAKE to devise a workshop programme to start the ball rolling on a new approach to the night.
Ipswich Borough Council: Town Centre and Night Time Economy Conference
Ipswich is an undiscovered gem with a burgeoning after dark life and a live music scene. It asked MAKE to help it prepare for Purple Flag accreditation.
Engage Liverpool Residents Organisation: Night-time Economy Conference
Long before the ‘agent of change’ principle, MAKE was working with residents and nightlife to create mediation processes and methods for the after dark economy to exist alongside urban living.
Organisation for Cooperation and Security in Europe: International Best Practice Conference
Having advised the UK government, MAKE’s founder was asked to contribute to the Beacon programme for municipal best practice in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Crawley Borough Council: Night Time Economy and Licensing Conference
Crawley was way ahead of the curve in bringing its community together to create its new licensing policy. Here’s how we helped.
