PROJECT: Licensing Newsletter

What were MAKE asked to do?

Heart of London Business Improvement District (BID) represents around 500 businesses in London’s West End - the world’s premier entertainment district. Heart of London wanted a summary of the upcoming changes in Westminster City Council’s licensing policy (which MAKE also responded formally to on behalf of the Heart of London) which it could send out to members to both inform them of those changes and to invite their feedback.

How did MAKE do it?

  • We examined all of the council’s consultation documents and boiled down the changes into a two-page summary written in plain English.

What happened next?

We designed the approved text into an attractive document with instantly recognisable local landmarks that would catch the eye of notoriously busy venue owners. Heart of London then distributed this to its members, receiving positive feedback on the format and a number of suggestions from venue owners about how the licensing policy may negatively impact them.

What unique value did MAKE bring to this project?

MAKE have long advocated using short, clear and simple summaries, packed with images for maximum impact. Cleary this is not unqiue, but it’s a lot rarer than it should be!
